”Come on, kid, you have to get up some time,” the dark haired boy leaned his side against the door frame as he watched Cloud screw his nose up before pulling the covers over his head and told him to eff off. This was their typical morning routine, and in all honesty even though Zack should’ve been over Cloud’s stubbornness about getting up, he still found entertainment in ruining his chances of falling back to sleep. All he needed was a little jolt and he’d be up and running, ready for the day and to do something stupid with him despite all of his protests. Zack cocked his head to the side as he watched Cloud’s silhouette underneath the covers before he simply rolled his eyes and sighed, ”It's to get you food, so unless you want to starve...” there was another inaudible grunt from the blonde and a single arm appeared, a bright laugh leaving Zack’s lips as Cloud flashed him his middle finger. Little snot.
After a year of carrying Cloud around, fighting for his life as well as his own along with keeping the boy safe whilst Zack went out and found food for them, he had found that it was almost as if he’d taken the position of Cloud’s guardian. Not that he minded, of course, Cloud seemed to be the only family he had now after he had lost contact with his parents several years ago. At times, he wished he could go back and visit them to show them how much their 16 year old boy had changed and grown into a successful – almost a hero – like man. He’d tell them about all the things he’d done, tell them how he’d saved his best friend and catered for him whilst he was still comatose for a year instead of just caring for himself. They probably wouldn’t believe the stories he told them, but even if they didn’t, he knew they were. He knew the feats he had gone to and the lives he’d saved as well as the ones he’d lost, but let’s not go there. The only thing he’d want to hear from them was that they were proud of what he’d been able to do, that running away was not to spite them, but was so that he could do something successful with his life. Mum would be... well, his mum would be completely distraught because her baby boy had left her and dad, mmm, he’d probably be the same. But hey, at least he was going to visit them... right? But, not now, it’d have to be in the future once Cloud had completely recovered from his Mako addiction (only god knew how long that’d take).
Zack popped his lips when there was still no response of Cloud getting up, causing him to uncross his arms and head over to where the blonde lay, jabbing him in the side once only to grin. ”You’re so bloody lazy, you know that right? Do you want your usual for brunch?” oh yes, it was near lunchtime, I forgot to mention Cloud’s amazing ability to sleep in for however long – but that was only when he didn’t have a night that was riddled with nightmares. Cloud dropped the blanket from his face and glared up at Zack as he grinned down at him, bright blue eyes connecting as Cloud gave a simple nod and rolled over to face away from him, burying himself under the covers again. ”Now leave me in peace, idiot,” Zack only laughed at Cloud’s cold remark and ruffled the kids hair, ”That’s the spirit, Chobie. I’ll be back soon.” and with that, Zack ducked out of the room before a pillow came sailing towards him and smacked against the wall just a few inches from his head. Mornings were always such a fantastic time.
Once Zack had pulled enough Gil from random stashes around the house and grabbed his sword (because there were odd creatures scattered around), he shouted one last ‘seeya later, kid’ before he shut the door behind him and headed off in the direction of the shopping strip. This place was always so deserted, only being a few small groups of people daring enough to roam the streets. But today Zack had found that there were quite a few people scattered about the place, some of them eyeing his height, others eyeing him as if he’d done something wrong or was some sort of foreigner. What? Wasn’t a tall, goofy dark haired guy allowed to walk around with a giant sword strapped to his back? Everyone else seemed to have some sort of random weapon, why couldn’t he? Zack rolled his eyes inwardly but kept a solemn expression on his face, sky blue eyes flickering about him as he went. It wasn’t long till he found himself coming to a rather open area where no one was around. Now that was odd. Zack came to a stop as he neared the centre, glancing about him in an almost cautious matter, keeping all senses peeled for any sign of why there was no one around. Sure, it was empty most of the time, but not this empty. ”Oi, if anyone’s here, come out, now.” Zack demanded, just loud enough that if someone was around that they’d be able to hear. The eeriness of this place was starting to make him feel somewhat uneasy. Great. Looks like he was gonna get back later than he expected. [/blockquote]
