Perpetual twilight, and unending balance between day and night. This world existed stuck, neither light nor dark, but betwixt and between. Maybe that's why it called to the Nobodies. They had no side but their own, no alignment to either side in the endless war of light and dark. Xigbar had an alignment once. He had chosen his side. When he had been taken under the wing of the keyblade Master Xehanort he had chosen his alignment with the darkness. It meant power, it meant strength. And what other way was there to measure the worth of a man? Now though? Now he was Nobody. He didn't exist, his ties to the darkness were lost with his heart. With it came nothingness, and that nothingness now pulled him here.
The Nobody watched the streets below from an empty balcony. A black clad figure, covered by a hood that masked his features in shadow, Xigbar was both inconspicuous and eye-catching. He could move unseen through a crowd, but to anyone looking for things unusual he would stand out like a sore thumb.
There was a flea market today in the Town Square of Twilight Town. People from all over had come to hawk their wares, others to buy whatever useless trinkets they could find. Xigbar watched them all. He had been given a standing order after reuniting with Xemnas: find more. The War had escalated, Darkness was taking over the worlds at an alarming rate, if the light should fall, what would happen to the middle ground? They needed to bolster their ranks. They had stopped looking before because the addition of the Thirteenth meant they had all they needed to recreate Kingdom Hearts. But that would no longer suffice. Thirteen had been taken down to zero by two last generation keybearers. Now that they were given a second chance, there was work to be done.
For Xigbar, looking for new recruits was always a favorite past time. It was the order most often given to Xaldin and him, either together or alone. now, he traveled by himself, wandering from world to world, and that had led him here, Twilight Town. Sometimes he would get lucky and find a nobody just as they came to be. But he preferred having to look, hunting kept his senses sharp. There were signs to look for: blank faces, empty smiles, forlorn looks at the wild expressions of others. Here, where hearts gathered and emotions ran wild, finding someone not reacting would be simple.
The Nobody had been leaning against the balcony, one arm lying across the railing, the other elbow propping up his chin. Seeing nothing he stood up and turned to leave, but instead of walking through the glass doors behind him, he warped to the street below. Appearing in the middle of the crowd would cause a stir though, so he instead walked out of a nearby alley, talking his place within the ocean of people. His eye darted back and forth, watching faces, hand gestures. His ears picked up everything he could, the con artist merchants, teenage gossip, married couple banter. Xigbar didn't know if he would find what he was looking for here, but instinct said it was a good place to start.
