The beach wasn't as bad as Avan thought it'd be.
When he arrived here he had expected to see a bunch of teenagers running around in their bathing suits and playing a sport where a ball would most likely come and hit him in the face. But surprisingly, the place was deserted. It almost looked dead, minus the few seagulls the flew overhead. He almost considered leaving because no one was here, but then he spotted a figure a good distance away, standing close to a tree. From this far away he couldn't tell if it was a girl or a boy, but he figured having a conversation with someone would be better than walking around until he got bored and left. It could be someone's grandma, and he'd be happy.
He wasn't a fan of the beach, and it showed by the way he was inappropriately dressed for this kind of environment. His shoes kept kicking up sand, and he cursed under his breath a few times as his feet would unexpectedly sink into the sand. By the time he reached the person, Avan would have a nice amount of unwanted sand in his shoes. If he hated the beach before, he really hated it now.
Soon he was at the oddly shaped tree, and beside it was a girl. A really pretty girl, to be more specific. She had red hair, and she was on the short side. There were the beginnings of a feminine body, too. The only thing that made her the slightest bit unattractive was that she looked incredibly sad. why would anyone ever be sad on the beach? He took a moment to think about the grains of sand that were in his shoe.
Maybe she had sand in her shoes? Nah, probably not.
Avan continued up towards the tree, and stopped behind the girl. She hadn't noticed him yet, and she still looked really sad. Making a face in thought, Avan considered his options. The girl looked small, vulnerable, and easily manipulated. But, he didn't want to take a risk and have the girl reel back to punch him in the face. If he decided that he wanted to take her anywhere with him, he'd have to make friends with her first.
Taking in a deep breath, he finally spoke.
"Well hey there!" [/blockquote]

As much as she wanted to go with Sora and Riku on their journey, she just couldn't. As much as she wanted to be able to fight alongside them and prove that she was more than just the girl on the sidelines, she just couldn't. Kairi did have a Keyblade now, but she didn't know how to use it. Even if she were to go with Sora and Riku, she'd still be useless because she wouldn't know what to do in the first place. She needed practice. So as much as it pained her to stay behind again, she did.
When they left she stayed on the island, the letter from the King held tightly in her grasp as she read it over and over again, as if there were some sort of secret message that she hadn't picked up. But when all she found was the same words she'd seen the first time she read it a few hours ago, she put the letter down beside her on the misshapen paopu fruit tree. Her gaze roved the horizon, trying not to focus on how much she wanted to leave, but on how she had stayed behind for a reason.
Settled with that thought, she had jumped off the base of the tree and had barely landed on her feet, when a random voice came out of nowhere.
"Well hey there!"
"Oh!" Kairi gasped, whipping around towards the man who had very randomly showed up behind her, "You scared me!" Her hand was over her chest, her heart hammering on the other side and she tried to calm herself down. She took a moment to look over the stranger, and her lips pulled down into a frown. Just by the way he was dressed, she could tell that he wasn't from here. That meant he was either here visiting someone, or...
Immediately Kairi distanced herself from the man, her guard up. Naturally, she didn't trust people that randomly showed up here from other worlds. Her experience with Axel was enough to prove that point. Expression hardening, she glared at him for a moment. What if he was some crazy lunatic here to kidnap her? She wasn't about to be kidnapped again. Then again, he could just be lost and came to her for help. His greeting hadn't been suspicious in the slightest way, so she decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. Offering her hand to shake, she smiled.
"Sorry about that. I'm Kairi," she said, figuring intros were as good a place to begin as any, "Who are you?" [/blockquote]

At her reaction, Avan grinned widely. It was a bit out of character, but he had an image to build, here. He couldn't go around greeting people with his gun, nothing would ever get done that way. He had to make it look as though he were some sort of relaxed young adult who could keep up with a sixteen year old, even though he was really a crazy person who somehow makes people obsessed with him without even trying.
He snapped out of his reverie when the girl reached out her hand, and introduced herself to him. He stared at her hand blankly for a moment, before grasping onto and shaking it.
"Kairi, huh?" he asked, letting go of her hand and putting it back at his side, "That's a pretty name. My name's Avan."
He took a moment to notice that she had taken a few steps away from him, and he arched his eyebrow. Was he that weird-looking? He might be, seeing as how he wasn't dressed properly for the beach. He shrugged it off, before looking back at Kairi. For someone assumed to be around sixteen, she looked like she was wise beyond her years. The way she carried herself showed that she had been through more than any normal girl has gone through, and it takes more than a spider to scare her.
Realizing that he was staring, Avan shifted his gaze from Kairi to the beach again. It was still empty, and he wondered why it was completely empty, and not packed like he always thought a beach would be. "Pretty empty," he asked, looking back at her, "I always thought that if there were people living on a beach, they'd be spending every moment of their lives on it."
He looked back at Kairi again, deciding to look at her features again. For someone who lived on a beach, she was pretty pale. Either way, he still had a mission he had to do. He was going to become friends with the girl, and when she trusted him enough, he was going to take her away from this world. The fear and betrayal that she'd feel from it would please him in a way that nothing else ever could.
"So, what's your story, Kairi?" he asked, sitting on the deformed tree that he was taking a strange liking to, "Wait, no. Not your story. I'm not interested in hearing about the boy you've been madly in love with for your entire life." He put emphasis on the last part, joking around but also meaning it. He didn't want to hear about any type of romance. At all. "Just tell me about you." [/blockquote]

Avan was quite the character. Kairi watched him intently as he shook her hand, and she couldn't help but blush slightly at the compliment of her name. She mumbled a small "Thank you," before her gaze dropped down to the ground. The more she talked to Avan, the more she realized that he wasn't as odd as he looked, he was actually pretty nice.
But the way he was staring at her made her uncomfortable, and she shifted slightly, arms crossing over her chest tightly. She visibly relaxed when he looked away, and noted that the beach was empty. "It's never really packed to being with," she said with a slight shrug, "It's really only full when there's a family here on vacation."
At Avan's next question, Kairi made a face. She wasn't in love with someone! (In reality she probably was, but she wasn't about to admit it to someone she just met.) Again, her better instinct told her to not answer him, but again, she gave him the benefit of the doubt. "There's not much to say, really..." Which was a lie in itself. But she couldn't talk about how her two best friends were Keyblade Wielders who traveled throughout the worlds fending off darkness! Avan would just look at her as if she were insane.
"My two best friends have left for a while, and I'm waiting for them to come back." It was a very basic answer, and that was all he was going to get. Kairi sighed, leaning her back against the Paopu Tree and closed in on herself. How long would she be waiting for? What if they couldn't come back for a long time, again? Was Avan going to be here for a while? If so, would he keep her company? At the thought, she looked back up at him. He didn't look as though he would be staying for very long, but it's better to ask than to wonder.
"How long will you be staying for?" The question came out sounding more desperate than she had intended. She was desperate for someone to be with, someone that would be a nice calm after spending the entire day with the crazy brunette that was Selphie. Realizing her mistake, she looked down at the ground and tried to reword her thoughts, "I mean... You can't just stay here for a day. There's so much to see!"
Kairi was slowly falling into Avan's trap, and she wasn't even realizing it. [/blockquote]

The explanation Kairi gave him was really... Basic. Avan frowned, knowing that there was more that she wasn't telling him. Normally he would've pried the information out of her in his own way, but he had to stay focused. He was still on a mission to take this girl away from here. He nodded, pretending to accept that as a good answer. He watched as she leaned against the tree, and he took note of how she suddenly looked depressed again.
How long will you be staying for?
The question caught him off guard, and for a moment he sat up straight, trying to think of what to tell her. "Hm," he said, as if he were really thinking about it, "Not very long. I was just passing through for maybe a day or two. As you can see, the beach isn't really my scene..."
Avan looked back at Kairi, a thoughtful frown on his face. She wanted him to stay, and he didn't understand why. They had just met, and she was already trusting him more than she should. Suddenly an idea sparked in his mind, and he tried not to smirk
"If you'd like," he started, trying to make his request sound as innocent as possible, "You could always come with me." He paused, taking a look around the island. It was small, empty, and didn't seem like a very good place to be when you're waiting for someone to come back. Kairi was waiting for two people to come back, and she was here by herself, wrapped up in all of her thoughts.
"Come on. You could use a break from this place!" He leaped off the trunk of the tree, looking at the redhead with a bright smile, "Your friends will come back faster if you have some fun! Come on, you can't just sit here for the rest of your life!"
Avan reached for her hand, grasping it in both of his and holding it tightly. His smile never left his face as he looked at Kairi. She was a beautiful girl, and he almost regretted his decision of hurting her. Hurt didn't suit her very well. He let go of her hand, putting his hands on her cheek and forcing them up into a smile. He snorted, unable to hold back his laughter at the odd expression. Maybe smiling didn't suit her that well, either.
Pulling back he playfully wiped at his eyes, pretending there were tears there from him laughing so much. He regained his composure, and the serious expression came back to his face. "So what do you say? Do you wanna come?" [/blockquote]

At Avan's answer, Kairi sighed. She should've figured that he was only stopping by. After all, he really didn't dress like he was intending to stay for an entire week. Her arms crossed tightly across her chest, and she nodded before standing up straight again. While he was here, she might as well do something with him before he left. After all, company was company. But before she could offer an idea, he threw out the question of her leaving with him.
"Wait--" she stumbled over her words, "You want me to go with you?" That was a bit... Straightforward. She looked at Avan with an arched eyebrow, and then she frowned. She had declined going with Sora and Riku when she had the chance to leave before, why would she want to leave now? For all she knew, they could get into trouble. Avan may not be able to defend himself, and it'd be all up to her.
She hadn't even learned how to summon her Keyblade, yet. Asking her to defend someone else right now would not be the smartest decision one could make.
Kairi had been prepared to decline Avan's offer, when he reached out and pushed her cheeks up, to the point where her eyes were squished shut, and it didn't feel like anything close to a smile. She was stuck like that for a moment, confused as to why he did that in the first place, when he started laughing. Hard. Kairi pouted when he pulled away, trying not to laugh, as well. Soon she bursted into a fit of giggles, which erupted into laughter that she caught from Avan.
Then he asked his question, and she was reminded of her current predicament. Avan was asking her to go to another world with him. "I don't know..." she finally said, her gaze dropping as her smile faded, "I have to stay here."
This time, she wasn't lying. What if Sora or Riku were to come back when they had some free time, and she wasn't here? Surely they would freak out and assume the worst, and Kairi didn't want to have to explain that she left with someone she had just met. The lecture that she would get from that would be endless. Looking back at Avan, she hoped that he'd be understanding and would be alright with her staying behind. Feeling the sudden need to leave and go home, Kairi clasped her hands together over her chest.
"It was nice meeting you, Avan, but I really can't go." she said, turning towards the direction of her house and taking a few awkward steps in that direction, "I should probably go home..." [/blockquote]

orse than Jet Lag, then Gummi Lag had won the competition in that. Mickey could hardly stand the pounding in his head as he lay on the ground, his eyes closed. He knew he was on Destiny Islands, but he just didn’t want to open his eyes to come to realization that the trip was finally started. A startled quack caught his attention as his name seemed to murmur through. Sighing he opened his eyes…or so he thought. All he could see was the pitch black around him. Wait they were on Destiny Islands?
Waiting for his eyes to adjust, he looked around spotting a door at just the far end of the cavern. It puzzled him to have a door in the just corner of a cave, whatever reason why. Staring at it closely he caught the small hint of light coming from it and finally detected it as a keyhole. So they were on a world for sure. Getting to his feet he brushed himself off.
“Let’s get going Donald,” he said, walking off without waiting. The path he led began to show more light as they headed up, a roaring sound coming up ahead. Wincing his eyes at the new light, he motioned forward in awe as he realized they were behind a waterfall. Never would he have ever imagined such a thing, but he had to admit it was a good location for the keyhole of the world.
"It was nice meeting you, Avan, but I really can't go. I should probably go home..."
That voice....he knew it. That soft tone that belonged to its feminine character. It was clear as bells to his ears. He rushed out from behind the waterfall, amazed at how the water didn’t even touch him as he passed through it. Gazing ahead he saw the fair brunette maiden, standing on the beach with an unfamiliar guy. Something about her stance showed that she looked really uncomfortable with him, whatever the problem may be. Where was Sora and Riku to protect her? She may be a Keyblade wielder, but she was still a Princess of Hearts and needed protection. He lifted his voice to gain her attention and possibly ward the mysterious guy off. His Keyblade suddenly appearing in his hand.
“Kiari! It’s me, King Mickey and Donald. We’ve come to speak with you and the others.”
